Sooner Sensation Update

Hello from Moore Oklahoma,

What a competition we had this year. So many good choruses and quartets, it made us proud to be one of them, Debbie Hogan has been our director for only six months and we only had our contest music for three months before contest so we were very happy to have scored 47 points higher that last year. Five of our members received silver heart awards for bringing in new members.

Chorus member Trisha Whithurst, opened her home to the chorus so we could have a celebration potluck and watch our DVD in a BIG screen. Our members from Texas joined us.

Our installation Banquet was held May 20th with Mary Rhea officiating. We were so honored to have a member of the KISMET quartet from OK city chorus to do this for us. Our team has been increased to 12 members. Patty McMillian remains our team leader. Other members are Lyn Jacquemot, Secretary, Cindy Smith, Treasurer, freda Webster, Carolyn Goldbeck, Peggy Acker, Kristin Jacobs, Sharon Smith, Sandra Beese, Margaret Adams, Diana Quay, and of course our director, Debbie Hogan. The selection for the Sooner Sensation of the year award ended in a tie between a mother and daughter, Lyn Jacquemot and Kristin Jacobs. Two of our five rookies are our youngest members. Audrea Henderson who is 24 and Heather Hogan (guess who her mother is?) is 19.

We have several all day rehearsals scheduled as well as many retreats before next years competition. During the next few months we will be busy with upcoming performances.

Debbie appointed Linda Noah assistant director to the South Sooner Sensations (out members from Texas). All nine of them get together on alternating Mondays and rehearse and then get with us once a month for our all day rehearsal. That's dedication and we are happy to have them!

Summer music camp will be exciting for all of us, especially our new members, and they are looking forward to attending as well as our seasoned members. Until then keep a song in your heart.

Twin City Sensations goes Patriotic!

The local Texarkana Rotary Club has a project called "Paint Texarkana Red, White and Blue". They sell American flags to the public and businesses and they are displayed 6 times a year on patriotic holidays. This requires enlisting their services of non-profit organizations in helping put up the flats each time. There was enough interest from chorus members that they handled two of the designated grids for flag placing. It took about an hour to set up and another hour to retrieve the flags each time, with crews of 3 people in 2 vehicles.

They did it for the first time on Memorial Day and will do it again for Flag Day. Twin Cities Sensation chorus was thrilled to receive their first check of $248.00 and . . . IT SURE BEAT HAVING ANOTHER BAKE SALE!

Cruise in A-Chord

Regional members (l-r) Fonda Hill, Gayle Bramhall, both from Twin City Sensations Chorus, and Edith Reiss, from Rich-Tone Chorus, got together recently on Internationals Cruise in A-Chord. Brava! Quartet lead the barbershop line-up. The Cruise in A-Chord is held every other year. Watch International's website for information on the 2008 Cruise in A-Chord.

New Regional Members
Meet the new Regional Management Team Members

Education Coordinator
Annette Gary

Region 25's RMT is excited to welcome Annette back in her new position. Many of you know Annette as our previous Communications/Technology Coordinator. Annette is also well know in the region as 1/4th of our current Regional Champion Quartet : Rendition. Annette is a member of Prairie Winds chorus and sings baritone. Welcome back, Annette!

Marketing/Membership Coordinator
Sarah Montgomery

Sarah Montgomery has been on the Membership Committee for the past 6 or 7 years and enjoys visiting choruses. Sarah recently retired from 22 years of being a speech pathologist for the Edmond Public Schools. She has been a member of the OK City Chorus since 1982 as a baritone. Membership has always main her main interest in the chorus. She loves getting to know the new members as well as visitors! We're glad to have you aboard!

Events Coordinator
Pam Kaus

Pam Kaus is one of those people who get things done. She has been in the organization since 1991 in Regions 10 and 25. She has served her chapters in anyway that keeps out of her office. Planning events and negotiating contracts are two of her favorite things to do after singing bass, of course. Pam is a master level social worker, a political activist for the "least among us", and a community organizer. Unfortunately, Pam has decided to continue her pursuit for "truth, justice and the American Way" by expanding her education with a doctoral degree. She is leaving us to move to Pennsylvania and we will miss her terribly. Watch for news on an interim replacement in the Events Coordinator position, although it will be difficult to replace her. Good Luck, Pam!

Name that Tune!

Let your chorus have fun and improve as they earn points this year in the 2006-2007 Region 25 Incentive Program.

Your chorus earns points when your chorus members attend regional functions. Coaching sessions, shows, quartets, membership increases and educational visits can add points to your score. The winning chorus not only gets a prize, but gains in music and membership growth along the way.

Check out the Incentive Point system on Region 25's website here and be sure to attend as many Regional functions as you can to help out your chorus!
